Duration / 1 Month

Role / UX/UI Designer

Responsible for the ideation process, generation of sketches, wireframes and designing the UI.

The Challenge

The purpose of this project was to design a website that focuses on the topic of sustainability as an exercise in ux design.

  1. The website should be driven by user generated content and promote interactions between users.

  2. The goal is to build a community and it becoming a meeting point for users.

Note: I worked with a team up until the creation of the final mockups which I did myself.

Proto-Personas

Based on the target audience specified in the brief, I created some Proto-Personas to represent the users early on in the design process.

This was especially helpful during brainstorming as it helped the team understand the users better and not design for ourselves.

Sketches and wireframes

Paper prototypes and wireframes were made in order to conduct user testing before going further with the mockup process.

User Test and interview

Through the user test and interview, I gathered the necessary information to pinpoint any issues, or problems I might have missed.

Mockups

With the user generated content in mind, I chose for this project to have a fairly neutral color palette, as to not steal focus from main content.

The neutral color palette also helps to support photos.

In the last mockup image below I chose to put focus on personalization, letting users decide what content they want to see more of on their page based on their preferences or "favorites".

Final Thoughts

The next step would be iterations with another round of user tests to re-evaluate the design, especially the personalization aspect. I would also work on developing a hi-fi prototype and continue to iterate on the design.
